Under our federal Constitution, Alabamians are represented in United States Congress by 2 members in the Senate and 7 members in the House of Representatives. Senators serve a six-year term. Representatives serve a two-year term.

Alabamians are represented by constitutional officers in the Legislative, Executive and Judicial branches of state government.
In the Legislative Branch, Alabamians are represented by 35 members in the Senate and 105 members in the House of Representatives.

In the Executive Branch, seven offices are elected statewide to four-year terms: Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, Secretary Of State, Treasurer, Auditor, and the Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries.
In the Judicial Branch, the members of the Alabama Supreme Court, Court of Civil Appeals,
and Court of Criminal Appeals are elected statewide to six-year terms.
